Transportation

Since economic activities in Russia and CIS countries have boosted in the recent years and, therefore, nomenclature and volume of traffic has considerably grown, load on all types of transport (railway, motor, air, sea and pipeline transport) has been increasing.

Along with increasing capacities of the existing and construction of new transportation capacities, there are great reserves in enhancing efficiency of the existing capacities (reduction of idle time due to more accurate planning, etc.) and organization of automated information exchange among consignors, carriers and other participants in the transportation process.

Experience of successful realization of project on implementation of automated management systems at JSC Vanino trade sea port, the functionalities of which include production, maintenance and repair management, logistics, HR, finance management and tax accounting automation, showed efficiency of such a tool for resolution of the tasks of resource exploitation planning, increase of the equipment use coefficients and price formation management. IT infrastructure of the port was radically updated with the use of IBM products within the framework of this project. In 2006 a project on creation of information management system at JSC Sibir Air company was successfully completed. That information management system was intended for automation of the processes of finance and logistics management, fixed assets management, maintenance, repair and project management. For transportation companies having considerable fleet of vehicles (aircraft, watercraft and cars) we offer services on implementation of maximally full functionality of ERP systems in the area of management of all the types of maintenance and repairs: at request, preventive maintenance management and management of the most complicated type of maintenance — actual state maintenance. This solution allows to carry out detailed planning of repairs and preparatory works program, monitoring of repairs management and their quality.

Having unique expertise in the area of integration of heterogeneous information systems, Borlas offers the concept of organization of automated data exchange among the subjects of transport sector based on SOA (Service-Oriented Architecture) concept, which allows to create common information environment in the sector based on flexible interaction of already existing IT systems of transport companies. Objectively, it is a very important and still unsolved task: only the quantity of main information systems used by transport companies, Federal customs agency and other participants in the transportation process exceeds several dozens. There is no required information interoperability among them or such interoperability is realized in a very limited scope, which is one of the main constraints in the development of international transportation corridors and such promising type of traffic as inter- and multimodal traffic.

Enterprises in the transport sector traditionally focus on ensuring traffic security. Recently, after enactment of federal laws «About transport security», «About aviation security» and order of the Ministry of Transport named «Requirements to aviation security at airports», such requirements have been considerably toughened, which required radical upgrade of the technical security systems of enterprises in the transport sector, first of all, of airports. To resolve this task Borlas offers services on creation of integrated technical security systems on the basis of the products of world leaders in the security technologies field — GE Security and L3-SafeView companies. So, for example, in 2006 we implemented the project on installation, adjustment and commissioning of an up-to-date inspection scanning portal SafeScout at the Sheremetievo 1 International airport.

Bar-coding and cargo location tracking are very important for transport companies at the junction of IT and security technologies. To resolve this task we propose to use promising RFID technology. In particular, it is planned to implement such solution on RFID basis within the framework of project development at JSC Vanino trade sea port.
