Formation of the company

American company Borlas Sales Corp. began active work in Russia and CIS countries at the beginning of the 90s. Official representative office of the company in Russia and CIS was set up in 1993 and headed by Alexei Ananyin, current President of Borlas Consulting Group. In 1996 a Russian company Borlas IBC (Borlas Info Business Consulting) was established on the basis of the representative office, and it became the leading company in the Group of Borlas companies. Since 2004 the official name of the group of companies is Borlas Consulting Group, which reflects more correctly the positioning of Borlas.

The history of Borlas business formation is a history of shared success of Borlas consulting and ERP applications of Oracle (Oracle Applications), first introduced in Russia in 1996. Unlike our competitors, we took risks and staked on deep expertise of products of an ERP vendor, little known in Russia at that time, and sector specialization, and we made it. Only in the last 4 years Borlas business has grown more than ten times, and the implemented projects yielded tangible economic effect to our clients. In 2005 Oracle corporation named Borlas Consulting Group as Oracle E-Business Suite Partner of the Year in Eastern Europe and CIS – for strategic wins with eBS.

In April 2007 IBS and Borlas Consulting Group announced commencement of a friendly merger. The objective of the deal was to form a company that would be able to provide customers with international services, carrying out projects of whatever scale and complexity and delivering maximum benefits for the customers’ businesses.

In the summer of 2007 BSForum was held, which was the first joint initiative by the two companies and a key business applications event in Russia. The forum, which attracted over 200 delegates from among the top management and heads of functional units of large Russian companies, showcased the widest portfolio of enterprise management solutions in the Russian market and the unparalleled consolidated IBS/Borlas expertise.

In October 2007 IBS and Borlas Consulting Group announced completion of the merger and formation of IBS, the consolidated company. The consolidated company included all current business segments of IBS, including IBS DataFort and IBS Platformix, and companies of Borlas Consulting Group. Practices dealing with Oracle business applications and other Oracle technologies were brought together under the IBS Borlas brand.

The merger resulted in a company that is unique in its financial, human and technology strengths and has become the absolute leader among Russian providers of IT services, with 7 per cent of the IT services market and over 20 per cent of the business applications segment (IDC data, 2008). The total headcount is approx. 3,000 employees. The company currently has the largest consulting team in the Russian IT market, which includes over 400 consultants and designers specialising in SAP solutions and over 500 Oracle solutions professionals.
